Gesar epic chanting is a traditional form of Tibetan folk ballad singing and storytelling that performs the heroic Epic of King Gesar through oral narrative and song. It was inscribed on China's National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2006, and was subsequently selected for the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
